South Coast Rock Competition

The SCFCA Rock Competition was held on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th May with around 40 competitors from the South Coast and Illawarra areas representing their respective clubs. It was nice to see GHFC represented well at this competition. The weather conditions were quite good, which resulted in some nice catches. These catches mostly included Rock Blackfish, Salmon, Groper, Bream, Luderick, Tailor and Trevally.

The weigh in was held at the Kiama Bowling Club, this year there was a little bit of controversy with one of the competitors presenting an undersized fish to the weighmaster. After a quick check of the rules this competitor (who also happened to have the best catch of the comp) was unfortunately disqualified from the competition. This was very disappointing for the angler but excellent news for Mitch McInnes which saw him take out Mens Champion with 945.9pts, congraulations Mitch!

Another congraulations for the Gerringong Team which took out Champion Team with 2344.10pts. The team consisted of Robert Mace, Mitch McInnes, Mitch Cronin and Jason Stalgis. Well done guys, I’m sure the vouchers you all won will come in handy!

The good results didn’t stop there. In the ladies, Gerringong’s Bel Vlatko was very close to a win with 349.5pts but fell just short and took out Ladies runner up. Bel also managed to win the Weighmasters Prize for a bag limit of nice fat drummer and also took home a voucher to spend at McCallum’s Tackle World in Nowra

Last but not least, congratulations to Rob Mace on winning one of the biggest of species prizes for something blue that he caught during the comp. It tipped the scales around to 9.1kgs so I will let you all guess what it was!

Overall GHFC has had a fantastic outing at this SCFCA Rock Competition. Rumor has it, it has been a very long time since GHFC has won Champion Team for this comp!
