Shoalhaven Heads Classic Competition

The annual Shoalhaven Heads Classic competition was held on the 11th, 12th and 13th. Weather conditions were great for all types of fishing. However in saying that, our Deep Sea fisherman need to talk to one another, as there were a few keen to go, but didn’t have that deckie. It was great to see our junior members getting out there and wetting a line. The weigh in was held at the Shoalhaven Heads Bowling Club on Sunday with lunch provided, an all you could eat pizza meal. I’m confident to say Gerringong Hotel Fishing Club won this contest with the pizza eating machine Rob Mace, putting away a healthy 18 slices of pizza. Let’s hope he made it home without having to use the paper bag. It was a little disappointing that some of the other clubs that said they were coming didn’t show up, so the numbers were down from previous years. Congratulations goes out to a few of our members. Mitch McInnes won the heaviest bag for Beach & Rock, Robert Mace won the biggest fish and Jason Stalgis won the heaviest fish for Estuary. They all collected $100 each for their efforts. Our junior members didn’t let the club down either with Tom Cronin, Hannah Cronin and Eddie Stalgis winning themselves a Shimano rod and reel package. Last, but not least Belinda Vlatko won the weigh masters prize, with an unbelieveable catch. They couldn’t believe that she had caught all those fish herself and a couple of the guys checked with her to find out who else owned all those fish in her esky. It’s pleasing to see that our members made the effort and I’m pretty sure that they all enjoyed themselves too, and continued the celebrations back at Cronin’s Hotel afterwards.
